What is BSC-RL Soccer?

BSC-RL (Bloomfield Soccer Club – Regional League) is a soccer program primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without emphasizing travel or high-level competition. Instead, recreational soccer aims to allow the participants to have fun, learn the sport, and develop life skills, including a lifelong love of the game. Our regional league supports players from local communities outside of Bloomfield including but not limited to Glen Ridge, Nutley, Clifton and Montclair.

The program starts at $99 per player.

What is super-k?

Super-K was designed to provide a better path to learning the game at the Kindergarten age level. Super-K is comprised of all children registered or enrolled in Kindergarten. Players are assigned to teams with amazing and energetic coaches, they are provided a kit to play in and all they need to do is show up on Saturdays and have an awesome time! There are no mandatory weekday practices. Small sided games with pugg nets or smaller goals are used to develop awareness, technical skill and mainly a love for the game! These high scoring affairs are so much fun!

What EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

All children must have proper footwear in soccer cleats and/or turf shoes. Shin guards are required. Please purchase age and size-appropriate equipment. Do not assume anything fits out of the box. Try it on first! No jewelry (earrings, bracelets, oversized hair clips) is allowed on the field. BSC will provide each child with a new team jersey for the season.

What are the age groups?

Boys and Girls play separately in divisions comprised of 1st/2nd graders, 3rd/4th graders and 5th/6th graders. Our new Super-K division will be boys and girls ONLY in Kindergarten.

When are the games?

BSC-RL soccer games are traditionally played Saturday from 8:30 am until 12 pm or later, depending on the weather or schedule changes. There are Friday night games scheduled randomly throughout the season. Games can run up to an hour.

We will do our best to make up games canceled due to weather, field conditions, or global, national, or local public health issues. However, game schedules are not usually published until just before the start of the season and are dependent on field availability and the number of teams in a division.

When are practices?

The Head Coach or coaching staff sets practice dates and times. Since our BSC-RL program is comprised mainly of volunteer parent coaches, we allow them to establish practice times and dates around their work or personal schedule. However, we request that the volunteers keep days and times consistent each week so everyone involved can plan accordingly and attend all practices on time. Practices are not to take place no earlier than 14 days prior to the 1st official scheduled game.

When does the season start?

BSC-RL Soccer has three seasons; Fall, Winter (Indoor) and Spring. Although the specific date changes year to year, we like to have all Fall games begin by September 15th and end before Thanksgiving. In Spring, we attempt to have games start mid-April and end mid-June. Weather permitting.

I registered and paid, now what?

Once you have completed our registration and sign-up process, we will assign you to a team and coach. Once the coach has access to the team rosters, they will reach out to parents about practice dates and times. This will usually occur one to two weeks before the season starts.

PLEASE READ: Registration fees are non-refundable. However, pro-rated refunds will be offered minus administration fees in the event of global, national, or local public health issues.

What is Winter futsal/indoor Soccer?

Indoor Futsal is a small-sided (6v6) Co-Ed indoor soccer league assembled to keep kids active, hone their skills in the offseason and share a fun, social environment with many other kids their age. Boys and Girls play together on randomized teams for 6 weeks. A weighted, heavier ball is used to eliminate some of the bouncing and allows for better control on the hardwood floors. Our indoor futsal league supports players from local communities outside of Bloomfield including but not limited to Glen Ridge, Nutley, Clifton and Montclair. There is no Indoor soccer/Winter Futsal for 7th-9th grade.

*There are no weekday practices of any kind during our Indoor season – All events held inside Bloomfield High School
