What is BSC-RL Soccer?
What EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
BSC-RL (Bloomfield Soccer Club – Recreation League) is a soccer program primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without emphasizing travel or high-level competition. Instead, recreational soccer aims to allow the participants to have fun, learn the sport, and develop life skills, including a lifelong love of the game. Our regional league supports players from local communities outside of Bloomfield including but not limited to Glen Ridge, Nutley, Clifton and Montclair.
- The program starts at $105 per player.
- Kindergarten-8th Grade kids only
- Tentative start date is the week after Easter
- All players are required to have cleats, shin guards, black shorts and long black socks
What is super-k?
Super-K was designed to provide a better path to learning the game at the Kindergarten age level. Super-K is comprised of all children registered or enrolled in Kindergarten. Players are assigned to teams with amazing and energetic coaches, they are provided a kit to play in and all they need to do is show up on Saturdays and have an awesome time! There are no mandatory weekday practices. Small sided games with pugg nets or smaller goals are used to develop awareness, technical skill and mainly a love for the game! These high scoring affairs are so much fun!
When are the games?
BSC-RL soccer games are traditionally played Saturday from 8:30 am until 12 pm or later, depending on the weather or schedule changes. There are weeknight night games scheduled randomly throughout the season. Games can run up to an hour.
We will do our best to make up games canceled due to weather, field conditions, or global, national, or local public health issues. However, game schedules are not usually published until just before the start of the season and are dependent on field availability and the number of teams in a division.

What is Winter futsal/indoor Soccer?
Indoor Futsal is a small-sided (6v6) indoor soccer league assembled to keep kids active, hone their skills in the offseason and share a fun, social environment with many other kids their age. A weighted, heavier “futsal” ball is used to eliminate some of the bouncing and allows for better control on the hardwood floors. Our indoor futsal league supports players from local communities outside of Bloomfield including but not limited to Glen Ridge, Nutley, Clifton and Montclair. There is no Indoor soccer/Winter Futsal for 7th-9th grade.
*There are no weekday practices of any kind during our Indoor season – All events held inside Bloomfield High School

BSC will provide each child with a new team jersey for the season.

Co-ed soccer for children aged 3-10 offers a multitude of benefits that transcend same-gender leagues, fostering a more inclusive and well-rounded developmental experience. Playing together, boys and girls learn to appreciate diverse playing styles and strengths, which can lead to enhanced teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills on the field. This mixed-gender environment also promotes greater social empathy and respect among children, breaking down gender stereotypes and building confidence in interacting with peers of all backgrounds, ultimately preparing them for a more diverse world beyond the soccer pitch.
